Ginger Carol Weeks McMillan

Ginger Carol Weeks McMillian passed away at her home on September 17, 2020.

Ginger was the daughter of the late A.B. (Buddy) Weeks and Rebecca Leary Sartin and the step-daughter of the late Ralph Sartin.

She graduated from Brookhaven High School and then later attended Auburn University and Mississippi State University.

Ginger led an adventurous life with various interests and passions. She worked in the high- end fashion industry of New Orleans and lived on a sailboat

in Key West while serving as a tour guide at the Hemmingway House. She enjoyed cooking and owned restaurants in both Brookhaven and Roanoke, Virginia.

Ginger was an avid animal lover, and she was known for taking in any orphaned or strayed animals, both domestic and wild. One Christmas,

she brought home 27 dogs from the pound and kept them until they were all adopted.

This compassion carried over to her love for people as well. She never met a stranger and made friends with people from all walks of life.

Her house became a hub to neighborhood children looking for a day’s adventure—she was never boring. She lived life with zeal.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-father.

Ginger McMillian is survived by her husband, Ray McMillian; her mother, Rebecca Leary Sartin; her sister, Dr. Dena Jackson,

and husband Robbie; her stepbrothers Steve Sartin and wife Jody, and Robbie Sartin. In addition, she is survived by several nieces—

Mackenzie Jackson, Robyn Sartin Morehead, Dana Sartin Agre, Holly Case Chappell, and Kristen Hall Blanks—

and a nephew, Brady Hall. She is also survived by her godson, Arun Rahman. Special friends were Zeenat Rasheed, Sarah Rahman, and Billie Faye Sartin.

There will be a private graveside service at Easthaven Cemetery on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.

In the crazy years that are high school, Ginger was one of my bright lights. I can hardly think of those days without thinking of her and all we got up to. We recently reconnected through FB and I realized we still had so much common— mostly our love for animals, especially the lost causes. My heart is hurting for you and with you for her loss. I am sending love and prayers.
